PAGE ONE

PANEL ONE: Mark standing at the front door to a cheap apartment building, keys in hand, looking up at it.

NARR:
Call me Mark. This is the weirdest thing that ever happened to me. I had just moved into my first apartment. I was nervous, this was my first time living on my own.

PANEL TWO: Mr. STEPANOV, waving in greeting, smiling.

NARR:
This is my landlord, who I’ll call Mr. Stepanov.

PANEL THREE: PAUL, sort of just looming/hulking in the doorway, arms at his sides, also smiling.

NARR:
This is Paul, his son.

PANEL FOUR: MR. STEPANOV and PAUL are each carrying boxes up the stairs with PAUL in the lead.

NARR:
Mr. Stepanov was a nice guy, he and Paul helped me carry my stuff upstairs to my apartment.

PANEL FIVE: PAUL picks up a D&D rulebook out of a box and chats about it with MARK, they both smile at each other over the shared subject.

NARR:
We got to talking, and Paul noticed that I played D&D. It turned out he played, and was looking for someone to play with.

PANEL SIX: PAUL and MARK shake hands after making a gaming date.

NARR:
He wondered if I’d run a game for him and his girlfriend. I said sure; I felt it was the least I could do to pay him back for helping me move in.
